Dr. Robert Dugger II has built an impressive career as a board-certified psychiatrist in both General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Born and raised in Miami, Dr. Dugger's journey into the field of medicine began with his undergraduate studies at the University of Miami, where he earned a B.A. in Biology and Political Science in 2006.
Driven by a desire to make a positive impact on healthcare, Dr. Dugger pursued a Master of Public Health degree in Health Policy at New York Medical College, which he completed in 2008. He then went on to earn his M.D. from Stony Brook University School of Medicine in 2013.
Dr. Dugger completed his postdoctoral residency and fellowship training in New York through the Northwell Health System and the Bronx Care Health System. He was recognized as Chief Fellow in Child Psychiatry at Bronx Care, showcasing his exceptional performance and leadership skills.
Throughout his career, Dr. Dugger has held various professional positions, including serving as a research assistant at Stony Brook University School of Medicine and Columbia University. As a researcher, he focuses on medical education, U.S. health policy, and child and adolescent addiction, co-authoring several reports and presenting findings at research symposiums and conferences.
Dr. Dugger is fluent in English and Spanish and outside of his professional life he enjoys Brazilian Jui-Jitsu, hiking, sailing and sportfishing. With his impressive educational background, diverse clinical experience, and strong commitment to research and education, Dr. Robert Anthony Dugger II continues to make significant contributions to the field of psychiatry and the lives of his patients.Dual Board-Certified child and adolescent psychiatrists like Dr. Dugger have completed a minimum of five years of additional training in psychiatry after receiving a Doctor of Medicine degree. Board Certification requires periodic reexamination and, in the US, there are only about 11,000 Dual Board-Certified child and adolescent psychiatrists as of December 2019 (1 for every 30,000 Americans).
What further separates Dr. Dugger is his practice of emergency psychiatry across hospital systems consulting on thousands of highly complex cases in which he has coordinated life changing interventions and services. Dr Dugger brings this wealth of clinical connections and insight to his private patients.
Dr. Dugger‘s health policy advocacy included serving two years as a Councilor in the Medical Society of the State of New York and active board membership on the New York Council on Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Dugger’s accomplishments evidence his belief in patient advocacy and this continues in his active membership in the Tampa regional chapter of the American College of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as well as membership in the American Psychiatric Association.
